Man in a blue shirt on his knees outside potting a plant with other plants around him with a black cat in the front looking away.
Adam Frost Award-winning British garden designer and BBC Gardeners’ World presenter, Adam Frost, is leaving the garden and heading back out on tour!

In his most personal show to date, Adam will discuss the plants that have shaped his life and reflect on what’s brought him to where he is now. He’ll unearth the inspiration he’s found through a life in the garden, the people he’s met along the way, the music that’s steered his course and why he identifies as an ‘old romantic fool’.

Adam will share previously untold stories of how his passion for plants has taken him around the world and challenged him with unexpected experiences – from curating a garden in Japan during a monsoon to meeting heroes.

Closer to home, gardening is fundamental to Adam’s sense of family, wellbeing and recovery. In September 2021, he found himself grappling with the mental scars of the pandemic and facing a momentous house (or more importantly, garden) move. He’ll talk about navigating that change and reconnecting with nature.

Adam will also explore the creative act of putting a garden together and how he’s had to learn to embrace his artistic side.

Don’t miss your chance to hear Adam’s amusing anecdotes and poignant reflections, and to immerse yourself not just in gardening, but in human nature itself and the madness of it all.

An Evening with Toyah: Songs and Stories A singer and actor, a TV host and author, a BRIT Award winner and a film star – Toyah has worn many hats during a remarkable career spanning more than 50 years.

The High Priestess of Punk burst onto the scene in 1976 as she forged dual careers as a musician and actress who featured at The National Theatre and London’s Royal Court. She married King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp in 1986, and she starred opposite Sir Laurence Olivier and The Who’s Roger Daltrey, among others. Acting, presenting, performing, headlining tours, and releasing 23 studio albums continued her unique story and now it’s time to reflect.

Dementia Accessible Cinema: Calamity Jane Join us for a dementia-accessible film screening of the whip cracking Calamity Jane – a relaxed and welcoming cinema experience designed with those living with dementia, their families, and carers in mind.

Starring Doris Day as the titular gun-toting, wild west whirlwind, Calamity Jane is a classic Golden Age musical. Deadwood City, deep in Dakota territory, is largely the abode of men. But Calamity Jane is as hard-riding, boastful and handy with a gun as any; a blowhard frontier scout with an itchy trigger finger and a big mouth.

Doors open at 12pm for tea, coffee and cake (available for a donation), with the film starting at 1pm. Enjoy classic favourites in a calm environment where the lights are slightly up, the volume is gentle, and you're free to move around or talk if needed. Each film will have an interval to provide a movement and comfort break. We will have additional staff and signage available to help you, and there is an accessible route into the studio.

Everyone is welcome – whether you're living with dementia, caring for someone who is, or simply want to enjoy a classic film in a friendly, understanding space.

EOS: Turner & Constable Celebrating the 250th anniversary of their births, this unmissable new documentary explores Turner and Constable’s intertwined lives and legacies alongside the groundbreaking Tate exhibition.

Two of Britain’s greatest painters, J.M.W. Turner and John Constable were also the greatest of rivals. Born within a year of each other, both used landscape painting to reflect the changing world around them. Tate Britain is bringing these two greats together for a groundbreaking exhibition, in London from November 2025 to April 2026, and Exhibition on Screen once again has exclusive and privileged access to bring their extraordinary art and remarkable stories to the big screen in February so that you can enjoy both film and exhibition together. Discover unexpected sides to both artists with intimate views of sketchbooks and personal items and insights from leading experts.

Turner’s blazing sunsets and sublime scenes from his travels and Constable’s idealised depictions of beloved places from home whipped the public of the time into a frenzy of enthusiasm. Constable represents the very best of the old school of realism and pastoral nostalgia; Turner, an exciting new way of depicting emotion and dreamlike impressions. Critics compared their starkly different styles to a clash of ‘fire and water’. Don’t miss this opportunity to see these greats side-by-side, as they so often were in life, on the big screen for the first time.

Flabbergast Theatre's Macbeth In this classic tale of greed and guilt, Flabbergast’s Macbeth fuses a rigorous and respectful approach to text and storytelling to bring a magical, lucid interpretation of Shakespeare’s blood-soaked tragedy to life.

They present the bard’s original text accompanied by and supported with exhilarating live music creating a powerful live soundscape with an atmosphere that both compliments and juxtaposes the action.

A tightknit ensemble of actors performs a dark and visceral manifestation of the work’s essence and underlaying themes.

Flabbergast gives us an instinctive interpretation of Shakespeare’s most wretched tragedy, working to draw out the parallels with modern society. At its heart, the dominant recurring theme and fundamental narrative that powers The Tragedy of Macbeth is the masculine fear of feminine power; and in this sense, the play is as pertinent today as it has ever been.

“Is as captivating as it is unsettling.” ★★★★ The Telegraph

“This is an exciting and vital interpretation of Macbeth which serves to invigorate one of Shakespeare’s best-known plays with a new intensity.” ★★★★★ British Theatre Guide

Friends of Chelmsford Museums Annual Lecture The landscape of the Chelmer Valley is of great natural, historic and archaeological interest and increasingly recognised as the landscape of one of the greatest nature/landscape writers of the 20th Century, J.A Baker of Chelmsford.

The lecture with Nigel Brown will focus on the historic landscape, the product of 6000 years of human activity and show how it has been shaped by these “layers of memory” to quote Baker. It will offer some thoughts on how the understanding of the antiquity of the landscape may be used to enhance our understanding, appreciation and management of the valley.

Nigel Brown is an archaeologist, specialising in the Neolithic and Bronze Age, who has worked for many decades in Essex, closely involved in field work and research including the Chelmer Valley and Blackwater Estuary. He has published many articles and books on various aspects of the archaeology of the county.

Ivo Graham: Orange Crush What is the best orange thing in the world? Aperol spritz? Sunsets? Claudia Winkleman? You probably never stopped to think about what your favourite orange thing was, but you’re damn sure thinking about it now. Maybe it’s marmalade, or maybe it’s Garfield, or maybe it’s the album ‘Channel Orange’ by Frank Ocean. There’s just so many to consider. And no one on earth has considered more of them than Ivo Graham.

Ivo Graham has always been a fan of orange things. Baked beans. Sriracha mayo. The Tiger Who Came To Tea. But in 2025, a series of emotional days in his favourite colour prompted Ivo to commit harder than ever to the bit: colour-coordinating his life for his daughter, for his mother, for his football team, and, he desperately hopes, for your entertainment. Come and help this orange lunatic make his orange list, in a show about hats, haters, hometown heroes, and whether Hare Krishnas are better than Hobnobs.

Thin black round glasses with Van Gogh's starry night painting on them reflecting a shadow with show title on left.
When Vincent Met John Vincent died in 1890, John died in 1980, both of gunshot wounds to the chest. But imagine what might have happened, had the two greatest artists of their time, met?

Vincent van Gogh was a nineteenth-century Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art.

John Lennon was an English singer, songwriter, musician and peace activist who gained worldwide fame with The Beatles. Around five years before their deaths both men went through profound change.

Vincent van Gogh finally renounced his religious ambitions and began to paint in earnest, and despite great arguments with antagonist Paul Gaugin created his life’s great masterworks. John Lennon renounced sex, drugs and rock & roll and began five years seclusion as a family unit, and despite great arguments with antagonist Paul McCartney created a son, and what would be his last album.

This play takes place at their exact moment of crisis and decision, exploring love, death, art and legacy.
